Passenger car tyre Maintenance TIPS...

Regular maintenance and checks of your cars tyres will decrease the prospect of large repair bills.  At Engadine and Menai tyre pitstop we are able to perform wheel alignments, wheel balancing, puncture repair and the fitting of new tyres, but its you who can contribute the most by regularly checking your car tyres.

A great habit to start

On a daily basis walk around your car and check your tyres to make sure they look evenly inflated.  You are looking for cuts, splits, penetrations and bulges.  If you find any irregularities bring the car straight in to the Engadine or Menai pitstop.

Once a month and also before heading out in a long trip, perform a tyre pressure check whilst filling up with fuel.

Tyre pressure tip

Check your tyre pressure when the tyres are cold and make a point of checking the spare tyre on a regular basis.

Remember – a tyre under inflated will cause more rapid tyre deterioration and a higher fuel bill.  A tyre over inflated will cause excessive tyre wear, and reduce shock absorption causing a more jarring ride, tyre pressure is important.

Correct inflation pressure

To find the correct inflation pressure of  your passenger vehicle tyre checking:

• The owners manual for your car
• On the side of the door
• Around the tyre edge or
• In the glove box

If you can’t find details on the correct tyre inflation pressure for your vehicle, ask one of the pitstop crew, they will be happy to advise you.

Towing a trailer

Before you hitch up a trailer or caravan check your car manual for the correct inflation pressure or ask a Engadine and Menai Tyre Pitstop technician for advice.
